Agapao International

Agapao is an Ancient Greek word meaning “I love you…..unconditionally!” so it doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from or what you’ve done – you are special and deserve to be loved!

Agapao works with young people and communities to develop skills through training and empowerment, both in the UK and in developing countries, and local people are given the skills to develop themselves and those around them through a simple ethos – learn a skill, use a skill, share a skill. Agapao offers linked projects the opportunity for a ‘CIK’ start, to encourage enterprise and sustainability. The ‘Community Impact Kits’ are items which can help communities with income generating projects to become self sufficient and not reliant on external aid.

Agapao International arranges Impact Holidays for people who would like to share their skills, but can only ‘escape’ for a couple of weeks; it is the chance to have a holiday and have an impact. Previous visits have proven to be life changing for both the community projects visited and the visiting volunteers.

Agapao also collect unwanted and used items such as children’s shoes, school uniform, baby toys, games, toys, stationery, sports & medical equipment etc. to distribute in developing countries. As donations increased, Agapao launched Re-Loved! – a scheme to recycle items locally and globally to reduce landfill. Many people across the UK are now benefitting from low-cost items such as furniture, clothing, IT equipment and mobility items which were destined for landfill. The scheme has created jobs and work experience opportunities which will increase through expansion of the scheme.
