European Disaster Volunteers

At EDV we do more than provide relief – we empower survivors to direct their own recovery and create stronger, more sustainable communities. That means that we focus on projects which address problems identified by community members and that foster locally led initiatives. By working closely with disaster survivors we can affect change that will far outlive our presence and create communities which are stronger, more self-sufficient, and more disaster resistant.
We’re currently working in Haiti where we’re accomplishing these goals by partnering with local schools, orphanages, and community groups to improve their capacity to meet local needs. By improving that capacity, we can help these organisations provide important services with reduced reliance on outside aid. Using the skills and resources we’ll provide, these groups will be able to continue affecting positive change long after we leave.
