Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Services empowers people affected by dementia to carry on their chosen lifestyle. They equip people with the knowledge and practical support to live with dementia and they are proud to have built up a local reputation for providing excellence in dementia support and care. There are over 3,018 people living with dementia in Dartford, Gravesham. Swanley and surrounding villages. Diagnosis rates are increasing therefore the demand for support is higher than ever. They offer exciting and varied services with something for everyone. It could be a phone call from someone that is worried about their own memory or a family member going to Safeharbour Memory Wellbeing to speak to trained staff about a family member who need guidance on how best to support their loved one or a careworker supporting someone in their own homes with their day to day needs – we support anyone at any stage.
Services include:
24 hour helpline – no one has a crisis at 9am on a Monday morning
Support at Home – with anything that is needed
The Beacon Day Service – opens 6 days a week 10am to 3pm
Memory Cafes – various locations
Carers Groups – Carers learn how to care for someone with dementia and can air their worries
Peer Support Groups – opens discussion for people living with dementia to speak with their peers about their experiences
Singing Back the memories – singing groups that also gives annual performances
Activity Groups – dancing boxing curling bowls theatre visits country walks walking football; and much more
Kindred Spirits – Young Onset Dementia Group for people with dementia under 65 our groups
Community café at Safeharbour Memory Welbeing Centre – great coffee and cakes – with the addition of dementia trained staff to support for those that have memory concerns. Open to all community
