Children with Cancer UK
Every day 12 families in the UK will be told their child has cancer. It’s the most devastating news a parent can receive, their sole focus is to do everything they can to ensure their child gets better. Sadly, two in twelve will not survive. The children that survive their long and harsh treatment journeys are often left with lifelong side effects. No child should experience cancer and Children with Cancer UK dedicate our efforts into funding specialist lifesaving research to find cures and develop kinder, safer treatments. In doing so we liberate visionary researchers and accelerate breakthroughs bringing together extraordinary children with extraordinary research that will one day benefit everyone. In 2019, we invested £3.3 million into vital life-saving research, funded 32 new research awards, two scientific conferences and £250,000 for one clinical PhD studentship.
We also inspire action and raise awareness by sharing our learning for the greater good of all. By bringing the reality about children with cancer to the attention of the general public, we will make a change. We raise awareness during worldwide campaigns and stand together against childhood cancer and bring hope to young patients and their families.
We also support families whose lives have been turned upside down by providing free days out and fun activities, to allow families to enjoy quality time together away from the hospital. These events offer a great opportunity for families to meet one another and form vital support networks.
