Macmillan Caring Locally

Macmillan Caring Locally works in partnership with the NHS to fund the Macmillan Unit, a Hospice and specialist palliative care unit at Christchurch in Dorset. It was built in 1974 and was the first of its kind in the country.

The charity supports 16 in-patient beds at the Macmillan Unit Christchurch, a Virtual Day Centre, 12 Community Clinical Nurse Specialists who look after up to 400 patients living at home in our local community, a Hospice at Home Team, and a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists who support patients at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Every year there are more than 2,200 referrals to the Macmillan Unit.

Please note that we are not connected in any way to the national charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
