Safe Haven for Donkeys

Safe Haven for Donkeys is dedicated to providing care for working and abandoned donkeys in one of the most volatile parts of the globe. Established in 2000, the charity’s sanctuary in Israel is home to nearly 200 unwanted donkeys but Safe Haven’s work does not stop at the sanctuary gates. In 2005, the charity’s first mobile veterinary clinic for working donkeys, mules and horses was established in the West Bank (Palestinian Territories), followed in 2011 by a permanent clinic in the Palestinian city of Nablus. Today, as well as the Nablus clinic, our mobile teams are giving free care to thousands of equids across the West Bank, the El Saf brick kilns of Egypt and Gaza.

Alongside relieving the suffering of the donkeys, our aim is to make a long-term difference in the countries in which we work through programmes of education and support for owners, children and local veterinary students.

By supporting Safe Haven for Donkeys, you could help us transform the lives of working and abandoned donkeys in the Middle East.
