St Giles is an independent local charity caring for people living with cancer and other serious illnesses. Founded in 1983, St Giles has become one of the leading providers of care and support in the region for local people and their families affected by life-threatening illness. Free of charge services include: Nurse Specialists – providing specialist advice and support for patients at home; Hospice at Home – offering practical nursing care and support, enabling patients to remain in their own homes at the end of their life; In-Patient Care – patients come in for respite or stay during the final stages of their illness; Day Therapies – providing a range of services, including a day hospice, complementary and occupational therapies and chaplaincy support; Lymphoedema Clinic – an internationally renowned clinic offering treatment and support for adults and children with Lymphoedema. The Children’s Lymphoedema Clinic in Whittington is now the biggest children’s clinic in the UK; Family Support & Bereavement Service – offering help to those preparing for and following the loss of a loved one, including support for children; Education Department – passing on the hospice’s expertise to other healthcare professionals, as well as providing ongoing education for hospice staff.
