Sycamore Trust UK

Charity Name: Sycamore Trust UK

Sycamore Trust U.K. is a charity based in East London which supports parents, carers and individuals affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorders and adults with Learning Difficulties. They offer a range of services in the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge specifically designed to support families, educate the community and empower individuals of all ages to flourish and be valued members of society.

Sycamore Trust U.K. was formed in 2014 with roots all the way back to 1995. Their vision is an environment where people with Autism and/or Learning Difficulties are recognised for the positive contribution they can make to the society in which they live and are supported by that society to achieve this.

Individuals can be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at any time in their lives and our services reflect that.  Sycamore Trust U.K. offer a programme designed to help pre-school children aged 2-4 to communicate with their parents.  They offer youth clubs for young people, starting at age 8, up to 25. As young adults, their members are encouraged to join their supported employment programme (SPACE) which aims to prepare young people with ASD for a working environment.

In addition to the services offered from their premises, Sycamore Trust U.K. also provide support workers and travel training to help the young people to become more independent. They also run Parent Support Groups for parents and carers of children with ASD and adult peer groups for young adults as well as a Law Clinic for anyone with ASD who might need legal advice.  Their services operate from their premises in Dagenham and our Autism Hub in Havering, within Romford’s Liberty Shopping Centre.  The Romford Hub is also home to a number of other services, such as family support and the sensory room, a quiet space where parents can take their children should they need a calm environment whilst shopping.
