Talyllyn Railway

Charity Name: Talyllyn Railway

The Talyllyn Railway was the Worlds First Preserved Railway, and set the template for all the other Heritage Railways we love today.
Running continuously since being built in 1865, the line originally served to transport slate from Bryneglwys quarry, but also served as passenger transport to the village of Abergynolwyn.
The original pair of steam locomotives still survive and are part of the 6 strong steam train fleet, as well as the original coaching stock.

Today, the Railway welcomes around 50,000 travellers, who enjoy the relaxed trip in beautiful Snowdonia scenery.

The charity exists to ensure the Railway is maintained and improved for future generations to enjoy.
