Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre CIO

The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre has been a vital part of the local community for nearly 40 years, rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming over 35,000 cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs since 1986. Our work goes far beyond animal care, as we are also a trusted source of support, education, and companionship for individuals and families across the region. Our centre serves as a hub for the individuals and families we help within a 50-mile radius of our rescue centre in Sidlesham. Whether someone is surrendering a pet due to financial hardship, seeking advice as a first-time owner, or looking for companionship to ease loneliness, we are here to help, 365 days a year.

We believe every animal deserves a loving home and the chance at a good life, so we will never turn an animal away because of their age, health, or temperament. Whether they require urgent veterinary treatment or long-term rehabilitation, we provide the time and care they need to thrive. Our 4.5-acre site includes 70 indoor cat pens, 8 mother-and-baby units, and 50 pens for rabbits and guinea pigs. Our on-site veterinary clinic ensures each animal is treated swiftly and that new owners are supported for successful long-term adoptions. We also have nine charity shops located along the South Coast from Havant to Worthing. These shops make an important contribution to our work, both in terms of raising awareness and much-needed funds to care for the animals we rescue.

Demand for our services continues to grow, and we are now asked to take in around a third more animals than we currently have capacity for. With so many animals to house and care for, tummies to fill, and frequent veterinary treatment costs to cover, we have high operational costs to allow us to continue and expand our charitable work. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a huge difference to the hundreds of cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs we help every year.
