The Vine Centre (TVC) Aldershot exists to help change the lives of disadvantaged, homeless and vulnerable adults age 21+ in our local community within North East Hampshire.
What we do
We offer twenty frontline services as part of our Journey Programme leading towards responsible and sustainable independent living. Our essential services provide disadvantaged, homeless and vulnerable users/clients, often with complex needs, with practical life-skills, training and volunteering opportunities and support into employment through our Job Club.
We look after our clients’ immediate physical needs with a nutritious hot meal, laundry services, clothing, emergency food parcels, along with housing and benefit support. Once an individual has been assessed, we work closely with each homeless client to actively help them secure suitable accommodation.
However, we could not do it all without the generous support of our volunteers, who undertake a wide variety of tasks from collecting food, assisting at the activities, being a friendly face on the front-desk, or simply being someone willing to sit and listen over a cuppa.
Why the community needs us
The Government’s latest index of multiple deprivation in England has ranked some districts of Aldershot among the 20% most deprived in the country. Through our weekly services and Job Club, we provide a supportive and encouraging environment for job seekers, long term unemployed or those seeking help to improve their chances of employment or access to voluntary work and training. All Vine Centre activities and services are available to anyone in need in the community.
Our impact on the community
During 2014/15 our services were accessed by 462 Clients of which 361 were Male; 55-65% had a Mental Health need; 2,804 Meals were served including the Night Shelter; 1,433 1:1 Client Support sessions; clients engaged with our services 11.5 times; 122 presented as Street Homeless; 97 Clients volunteered; 538 attended the Weekly Job Club; 1,446 attendances of our JOURNEY PROGRAMME SERVICES; 239 attended a Creative Arts Workshop between September 2014 – March 2015. By supporting people to rebuild their lives The Vine Centre is actively helping to reduce drug and alcohol related crime and the number of ex-offenders returning to prison.
