Our Fees
Your donation helps us raise even more funds for charity
Giveacar is a not-for-profit social enterprise. To allow us to continue raising money for charity, we deduct a service charge from each donation. This is not a charge to the donor as the money is subtracted from the value of your donation. We reinvest every penny made into our staffing, advertising, and administration costs so that we can make even more money for charities in future. Our directors do not take any wages and our employees are passionate about making as much money for charity as possible.
Our fee breakdown
Vehicles that raise up to £249 have a 25% admin fee applied. Vehicles with a value of £250 and over will have a 30% admin fee applied. Please note our admin fee is subject to VAT.
Vehicles sent to auction: So that we can get the best value for your donation, we often send vehicles to auction. *Please note: vehicles sent to auction incur fees, including collection, from our auction partners (but this is not a charge to you.) Our admin fee is taken off the proceeds of the sale, after auction fees have been applied.
The rest of the money goes directly to the charity of your choice!
Assessing a vehicle's value
When you donate your car through Giveacar, we will assess its value, based on the type of car, age, and condition, and determine whether to send it for auction, or to be scrapped. Below we explain the fees for each method:
Auction Cars:
Our contractor for auction vehicles charges us a fee of around £130-£140 per vehicle, inclusive of VAT. This fee covers the collection of the car, and then any fees relating to the sale of the car, such as photographing, and managing the auction process. Below, we have made a summary table of what the donation would be to charity after both the contractor fees, and Giveacar’s fees are deducted.
Auction fee examples
| Auction Sale Price: | Contractor Fees (Inc VAT) | Giveacar fees (Inc VAT) | Total fees | Donation to Charity |
| £400 | £150 | £90 | £240 | £160 |
| £800 | £150 | £234 | £384 | £416 |
| £1200 | £150 | £378 | £528 | £672 |
Scrap Cars:
The contractor we use for scrap vehicles, is able to offer us a pre-determined fee for our vehicles, based on the location of the car. Scrap prices vary across the country, and the postcode is the main determinant of the price paid for the vehicle.
When we are remitted payments, we are not invoiced for any costs. Any costs that the contractor incurs, are absorbed into the prices we receive from them for the vehicles. We usually receive around £200-300 per vehicle for scrap cars, however, the price can be as low as £50, or higher than £300. Below, we have included a table to illustrate the payments, and our fees:
Scrap car fee examples
| Vehicle Remittance: | Giveacar fees (inc VAT) | Donation to Charity |
| £100 | £30 | £70 |
| £200 | £60 | £140 |
| £300 | £90 | £192 |
The contractor that we use also pays Giveacar a referral fee of £10, for each vehicle, and this is paid on a flat fee basis, regardless of vehicle location. The referral fee is retained in its entirety by Giveacar.
