Credit Cards, Cars & Charities. What’s the link?

You may be thinking how purchasing a vehicle on your credit card could benefit a charity?!

This relates to section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, which states that a credit card provider must take the same responsibility as a retailer if things go wrong with a credit card purchase of between £100.00 and £30,000.00.

Giveacar receives many donations from customers who have used this clause to get their money back on a faulty car via their credit card providers.  As such, the credit card provider is left with a car to dispose of but we provide a solution to their problem. Giveacar is used as a means to dispose of the now sad and unwanted faulty car.

Just recently a charity benefited from a generous donation because of section 75 of the credit card agreement.  A Porsche was purchased on a credit card but developed faults and the credit card provider advised the customer to donate the vehicle through Giveacar.  This beautiful car went on to raise a sizeable sum for the Wales Air Ambulance.

Giveacar can take vehicles that will either be recycled or auctioned and the money raised will be donated to a charity of the customer’s choice.  Vehicles accepted can also be non-runners.

Credit card providers support many charities, Macmillan Cancer Support, Oxfam, Prince’s Trust, Royal British Legion, Shelter to name a few.  Giveacar can donate money to any charity if they are registered in the UK or appear on the Charity Commission website.

HSBC, M&S Credit Card and Nationwide are a few of the credit card companies who have been kind enough to suggest to their customers to use Giveacar and by doing so many charities e.g. Help for Heroes, Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK have all benefited from these donations.
